NSW keeps things simple with the requirement being bold, easy‑to‑read registration numbers.
Powered vessels must display 150 mm‑high characters, while sailing vessels and PWCs can use 100 mm. Stickers must appear on both sides of the hull, forward of the midpoint, in a colour that contrasts strongly with the boat.
NSW Boating Authority emphasises plain block lettering — no italics, shadows, or decorative fonts.
